Chris Charles

Multi-Instrumentalist, Bandleader, Vocalist, Performer

Chris Charles is a seasoned professional with decades of experience on stage as a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, vocalist and performer. Chris plays all saxophones, vibes and woodwinds, keys, handles percussion and can pick up a six or four-string when needed.

Chris has toured the world, leading various jazz ensembles and as a member of musical acts of all types. Opening act credits include James Brown, BB King, Buddy Guy, Joan Jett, The B52’s, Green Day, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Maceo Parker, The Crusaders, Kool and The Gang, Eddie Money, Arturo Sandoval and The Brian Setzer Orchestra.

When not on the move, Chris has provided his talent as a session recording artist. His musical journey started when he was very young, first singing, then as a world champion percussionist with the Concord Blue Devils. Over the years, Chris was involved with sounds of the music spectrum, mostly heading up a horn section. If it has notes, Chris has played and performed it. Based in Orlando, Chris has overseen musicians at both Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, creating bands to meet a variety of needs, including The Outer Toons, the world’s only “live cartoon band.”

Chris’s longest running gig has been spent with the Toronto-based Classic Albums Live. Each night, CAL performs well-known classic albums note-for-note, cut-for-cut and Chris performed Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall more than any other artists’ albums. Playing with the world-class musicians CAL employs has generated many career highlights and has led him to Brit Floyd.

Chris is also well-versed off-stage, having worked in staging, set design sound and lighting for acts such as The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Doobie Brothers, N’SYNC, Celine Dion, Frankie Valli and The Blues Travelers.

While home in Orlando, Chris lends his extensive musical knowledge as the founder and creator of Castle Door Studios, voted best in Orlando in the past and always striving to maintain its gold standard service.
